Aquatic centres and swim programs for all ages draw Shreveport residents to local pools
City-run aquatic facilities in Shreveport have expanded group swim sessions this summer to serve children, adults and seniors across multiple neighborhoods.

Shreveport Recreation and Parks Department reported that enrollment in its July swim programs reached 1,450 participants by the first week of the month, up from 1,180 at the same point in 2025.
Summer heat and renewed focus on community wellness have pushed more residents toward structured water exercise rather than solo gym routines. The department added extra morning and evening slots at two main sites after seeing demand spike following the Memorial Day holiday.
Family and youth sessions at Querbes Park
At the Querbes Park Aquatic Center on Line Avenue in the Broadmoor neighborhood, weekday parent-child swim classes for ages 6 months to 3 years run from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Thursday. Older children can join stroke-development groups at 4 p.m. on the same days. The facility also hosts a Saturday family open swim from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. that includes basic water-safety instruction.
Registration for the six-week youth blocks costs $55 per child and includes a required swim cap and kickboard. City records show 620 children signed up for the current cycle, with 180 still on a wait list for the August session that begins July 27.
Adult lap and water-aerobics options near Clyde Fant
The indoor pool at the Shreveport Aquatics Center on Clyde Fant Parkway offers adult lap swim from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. daily and a water-aerobics class for ages 50 and older at 10 a.m. three days a week. The 50-meter lanes stay open for individual use outside class times, and the center keeps the water temperature at 82 degrees year-round.
Monthly adult passes run $42, while the senior water-aerobics series costs $28 for four weeks. Last month 340 adults used the facility for group exercise, according to department tallies released July 6.
Residents can check availability and sign up through the city’s online portal at shreveportla.gov or by calling the parks office at 318-673-7500. Walk-up registration remains available at both sites until classes reach capacity.
