Shreveport Opens City Land Applications; Deadline July 31
The City of Shreveport has opened a new round of city-owned parcels for residential development with applications due by July 31.
How we reported this

The City of Shreveport released 75 parcels across two neighborhoods on July 8 for qualified buyers and small-scale builders.
Housing demand has risen in Shreveport after the Caddo Parish population grew by 4,200 residents between 2023 and 2025, according to parish planning records. Local builders report lot shortages that push new-home prices higher in established areas.
Target neighborhoods and eligible applicants
The parcels sit in the Queensborough neighborhood along Line Avenue and in Cedar Grove near the intersection of Hollywood Avenue and Youree Drive. First-time homebuyers, nonprofit housing groups, and licensed contractors with projects under 10 units may apply. Income limits cap household earnings at 120 percent of the area median, set at $68,400 for a family of four by the Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission.
Applicants must show proof of financing or a construction loan commitment within 90 days of selection. The city bars speculative investors and requires that any new homes remain owner-occupied for at least five years.
Prices, deadlines and next steps
Lots range from 0.18 to 0.32 acres and start at $22,500. The Greater Shreveport Association of Realtors reported a June median sale price of $192,000 for existing single-family homes, up 7 percent from the same month last year. The planning commission set the application window to close July 31 at 5 p.m.
Interested parties can download forms from the city website or pick them up at the Planning and Development office on Texas Street. Staff will review submissions and notify selected applicants by August 15. Buyers who meet the criteria should prepare site plans and financing letters now to meet the tight timeline.
